While I've found people interested in my old VHS movies, no one seems to want the recordable tapes. Since I needed another pen holder, it only made sense to upcycle them into a pen holder!
Tools:
- Glue gun
- Scissors
Supplies:
- 4 old VHS tapes
- Glue sticks
- Piece of sturdy cardboard- I nabbed a coaster from a restaurant (Shh!)
- Arrange the tapes into a square.
- Measure the inside.
- Cut out the cardboard slightly smaller than the measurement.
- Glue two tapes together and hold until set.
- Determine how deep you need the pen holder to be, and place the cardboard in place accordingly.
- Glue the cardboard to the tapes.
- Continue gluing the tapes together in a square. If you are able to, glue the cardboard at the same time. If not, glue after the tapes are all glued together.
- Let set overnight before using.
Since I was looking for something utilitarian rather than decorative, I didn't decorate mine, but I think I will cover it with some vintage sheet music. Or fabric. Maybe I'll paint it. What are you going to add to yours to make it look less obvious?
