    VHS Tape Pen Holder

Posted on June 6, 2012 by Leanna Reece

While I've found people interested in my old VHS movies, no one seems to want the recordable tapes. Since I needed another pen holder, it only made sense to upcycle them into a pen holder!

    Tools:

    • Glue gun
    • Scissors

    Supplies:

    • 4 old VHS tapes
    • Glue sticks
    • Piece of sturdy cardboard- I nabbed a coaster from a restaurant (Shh!)
    1. Arrange the tapes into a square.
    2. Measure the inside.
    3. Cut out the cardboard slightly smaller than the measurement.
    4. Glue two tapes together and hold until set.
    5. Determine how deep you need the pen holder to be, and place the cardboard in place accordingly.
    6. Glue the cardboard to the tapes.
    7. Continue gluing the tapes together in a square. If you are able to, glue the cardboard at the same time. If not, glue after the tapes are all glued together.
    8. Let set overnight before using.

Since I was looking for something utilitarian rather than decorative, I didn't decorate mine, but I think I will cover it with some vintage sheet music. Or fabric. Maybe I'll paint it. What are you going to add to yours to make it look less obvious?
