Product Description
Square nails are just plain cool.
Dating back to Roman times, square nails were first made by blacksmiths who hammered them into shape. After about 1920, wire (round) nails came into use. They were cheaper and much faster to make, even though the old square nails could hold more than four times better than round ones. Because of this, in some cases old square nails were considered to be so valuable that old buildings were burned down just to retrieve the nails.
It's no surprise, then, that these jewels of the nail world make great jewelry. This old beaut has been loving wrapped with decorative jewelry wire and affixed to a 24" curb chain. Enjoy the history. And the upcycling.
