Some of our products have the coolest stories behind them, and this is one of them!
While most of us remember the days of using Kodak film to take pictures on vacation or special occasions, their work with film didn't end there. In fact, they developed countless numbers of flims for Hollywood movies- which is where one savvy maker stepped in. One of the Kodak plants in Colorado had been struggling, and as such, made the decision to demolish some of their buildings.
The reclaimed wood for this table comes from one of them. In this dark, 7,000 square foot building, maple was screwed to the walls to protect the drywall from damage from forklifts. In use from the mid-1960s to 2008, this exact maple wood is now available as a table for your home!
Each one of these tables is in its own right one-of-a-kind, with variable knots in the wood and slightly variable shades of wood. The circular "plugs," from where the wood was bolted to the wall, are in a different arrangement on each dining table, making this one interesting piece of wood furniture!
